Despite a slight slowdown, the Italian inflation rate still remained high in February 2023. The latest Istat survey of the consumer price index shows an increase on an annual basis of 9.1%. In many Italian cities this figure is even surpassed by the increase in rents. In 34 provincial capitals, in fact, the rental price requests of the landlords have grown by over 9.1% compared to 12 months ago, let's see where the growth is the most.
Two of the main national markets remain out of this list, Milan and Rome, a strong indication that suggests that values are already at the limit of economic sustainability for many citizens who live there.
According to the reference index of the rents of the Idealista Research Office, the average rental fee in Italy recorded a new increase on an annual basis of 6.2% in February 2023. However, the situation varies, even a lot, depending on the capitals. So much so that, as already mentioned, in 10 cities there are increases higher than the inflation rate recorded by Istat in February 2023 (9.1%).
In particular, as regards the capitals, the podium of the cities with the most consistent increases is made up of Campobasso (28.9%), Turin (24.8%) and Massa (22.8%). Just outside the top 3 is Piazza Catanzaro, where the average request from those who rent has grown by 21.6% in the last year. Cremona follows, with a leap of 16.9%.
