Uncovering Hidden Gems: Monferrato Region

Italy is often known for its iconic landmarks, vibrant cities, and delicious cuisine. However, there are many lesser-known regions that hold captivating stories and potential for investing in Real estate. Imagine rustic hilltop villages, peaceful towns, and unexplored territories brimming with charm. This post takes you through some insights that could be the perfect setting for your next investment and renovation project.

Embracing the Charm of Monferrato Region

Monferrato Region may not be the first region that comes to your mind for your second Italian residence, but it boasts a compelling mix of stunning natural landscapes and medieval architecture.

In the hamlet of Bardella you may find an ancient sulfur spring and ancient bakeries.

Cocconato and Moncalvo are cute villages located on hilltop positions that are simply breathtaking.

The whole area is important for the production of famous wines:

Freisa, a typical Monferrato vine, has been grown since the early 1500s. Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco is an ancient vine of Greek origin, imported by the Venetians.

There is also a variety of native Piedmontese bonarda vines; Barbera, and Albugnano DOC, a Nebbiolo vine, typical of the municipalities of Albugnano, Castelnuovo Don Bosco, Pino d'Asti and Passerano Marmorito. These are wineries to visit for a tasting and to purchase excellent wines:

A real nice place to stay is Relais Conac 1888, just a stonethrow away from Cascina Gilli, 7km from Vezzolano and 10km away from Cocconato. And if you want to escape all the green for a day? Turin is just 35' minutes away by car.

Properties here often overlook stunning vineyards or breathtaking mountains. For example, converting a 17th-century villa into a vacation rental can provide both a unique living space and a potential source of income. Collaborating with local artisans to maintain traditional styles can also enrich the renovation experience.
